2015 Year at a Glance Calendar

A fantabulous way of feeling on top of things and giving the YW (and parents) an idea of what to expect for the year is to have a 2015 planning meetings with your presidency.  This meeting takes a bit of time, but it SO worth it!!  It is awesome to have all your activities for the year on one paper!  You can also shrink it down and give each YW family a magnetic copy of it at New Beginnings.

2015 Combined Youth Planning Meeting

A fabulous way to ensure the 2015 Combined YW/YM activities are based on becoming more like Christ, the 2015 mutual theme, and what they are studying (Come Follow Me) in church is to have a combined planning meeting.

HOW IT WORKS

Who attends:  The Bishopric, YW and YM Presidencies, as well as, all quorum and class presidents (not the whole presidency, just the president)

How long does it take:  About 2 hours

Why do you do it:  Each month's YW/YM combined activity will be based on the Come Follow Me topic for that month, as well, as the four categories from Luke 2:52  "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man." Thinking "planning with a purpose"!

How do you do it:
#1:  Divide the chalkboard into four categories according to Luke: 1) Gaining knowledge for wisdom, 2) Physical for grow in stature, 3) Spiritual for favour of God, and 4) Service for favour of man.
#2:  Each individual is given 20-ish Post It notes and writes down activities they wish to have in 2015.
#3:  Everyone takes their Post It notes up to the board and sticks them into the category that best fits.
#4:  Once complete, everyone votes for their most favorite 12 activities.  Tallies are taken and the 12 activities with the most votes (and bishopric approval) are then plugged into the Come Follow Me month they fit into best.

Stake Youth Activity-DODGEBALL!!!!!!!

Hey everyone :)  Just a little follow-up on the Stake Youth Activity.  The activity will be on Nov 6 at 7 pm at the Stake Center.  It is going to be really fun!  The Youth Council decided to spice things up a bit and wanted each ward to have their own theme to come dressed up in.  They came up with the following themes:

1st Ward-Nerds
2nd Ward-Hawaiian
3rd Ward-Fairy Tales
4th Ward-80's
5th Ward-Western
9th Ward-Super Heroes
10th Ward-Camo/Hunting/Duck Dynasty

Please help get your youth involved and excited for this activity.  This is a great missionary opportunity!!

This info is being sent to you so we know that everyone is aware of what is planned.  Please give your Youth Council Rep the opportunity to announce this information to the YW.  If you have any questions about the activity feel free to ask!

XOXO!!!

Color Code

The Color Code is a really fun personality test that you could use for a YW activity or as a way to get to know the other YW leaders better.  Click here for the test (this might not be "the" test but it was free online).  This is also a FABULOUS way for you to understand your YW a little better.  It is sometimes surprising what color/color combination they are!!

Book of Mormon in 100 Days

Here is the first of what we hope is a TON of fun ideas for activities.  This is an activity that spans 100 days, so it is a little different but still AWESOME!

To start off the activity we had a lesson about the Book of Mormon and why it is important to read it. This followed along with what was being taught in Come Follow Me for the month.  I gave the lesson.  Click here for a copy of it. I know it is not perfect, but it might help.

At the end of the lesson we handed out a Book of Mormon to each girl.  We followed this tutorial, but used the normal size Book of Mormon and used vinyl material from Hobby Lobby so we didn't have to do the iron on step.  We also did not add the bookmark ribbon (sorry I don't have a picture of what we did).

We also handed out a Book of Mormon Reading Chart bookmark that explained to the girls what they needed to read and how long they had to do it.  After each book in the Book of Mormon we had a treat or a mini party.  If the YW had read that book by the deadline they were invited to the party or to have the treat.

There are so many different ways to get the YW to read the Book of Mormon. Switch it up!  I know the YW in my ward loved having the deadlines and the rewards to help them along.  Remember this is a requirement for Personal Progress so if you have girls that are struggling this might be for you!
